Today marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day! This global event began in the 1970s when 20 million Americans took action to combat environmental issues and raise awareness. This year, we may not be able to celebrate through public activities but don’t worry, we’ve put together a list of online resources you can participate in to support Earth Day!

Expand your knowledge through this cool, multifaceted series of virtual conferences hosted by Earthx Conferences in partnership with National Geographic. From April 22-27, you can tune into multiple events that cover environmental topics in energy, law, cities, and technology. This event features EarthxFilm and a wide variety of speakers including Gaylord Nelson, National Geographic explorer and Neil Chatterjee, chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Get creative with your quarantine buddies and participate in Weavers Way’s Earth Day Art “Make-In” this Saturday! This zoom event, co-hosted by Mindy Flexer Art Studio, runs from 1pm-3pm and adults and children can make and share images that incorporate the theme of Earth Day. This is the perfect opportunity to reuse and gather materials around your house! p.s. registration is required.

April may be winding down but it is not too late to participate or draw ideas from Earth Day Ecochallenge! Create impact collectively with teams through this social and environmental program. You can choose a 30-day action from categories: Wildlife, Freshwater, Oceans, People, Food, Climate and Forests. After completing actions, you will earn points which count towards your team’s total points.

Are you a movie buff? This one's for you! One Earth Film Fest's Earth Week is a free virtual film festival for all ages. Viewers can tune in to watch movies and converse with experts via live chat on Zoom. Group screenings are welcome to!

Earth Day Network is launching an online programming day over the course of 24 hours (beginning 12:01 am ET April 22). Tune in for calls to action, performances and online conversations surrounding this year’s theme of climate action. Special messages from guests include Dr. Sylvia Earle, Al Gore and Zac Efron. The Earth Day Network will also feature a new call to action every hour through out the day to encourage people to take action!
